PDP, Nigerians React To Sherriff Appeal Court Victory

Earlier today an Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday declared Senator Ali Modu Sheriff the Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party.

The ruling came as a split decision that saw two of three judges rule in favour of Sheriff while the other judge delivered judgement against the former Borno State governor.

Since the ruling, mixed reactions have flooded the public space, especially on social media.

The losing faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chaired by Senator Ahmed Makarfi have particularly found this a bitter pill to swallow.

Through it’s @OfficialPDPNig twitter handle, the group went as far as suggesting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may have a hand in the outcome of the case.

In one of the tweets, the group claimed that “the Judgment has finally shown that the ruling Party, the APC is out to create a one party state in the country.”

They however resolved to proceed “immediately to the Supreme Court to file an appeal against the ruling of today’s appeal court judgment.”

Other social commentators sank their teeth into the controversial ruling, including PDP chieftain Femi Fani Kayode, who believes the ruling is victory for President Muhammadu Buhari
